My camera keeps stopping

Your camera may be digital or film, and most likely has a shutter speed of 1/30th of a second. This means that the shutter can stay open for only 1/30th of a second.

The problem is that if your light source—the sun—is brighter than your camera's ability to handle it, all you will have on your film is white light. Your f-stop is the number that tells how much light will come through the lens.

With a smaller f-stop number, it will be easier for the light to enter into the camera and make an image.

 But when you open up that f-stop, the lens may take in too much light, causing a bright blob on your film. This is called "underexposure" and can be fixed in a darkroom.
